Passlogix Delivers World's Largest Deployment of Enterprise Single Sign

v-GO SSO Manages Passwords for More Than 1,000 Internal Applications and Thousands of External Web Sites

June 1, 2004 — New York, NY; Passlogix, the market leader in enterprise single sign-on (SSO), today announced that the United States Postal Service has completed its deployment of v-GO SSO, resulting in the largest and most comprehensive enterprise single sign-on deployment ever undertaken. In less than eight months, over 141,000 postal employees can now logon to more than 7,000 unique internal and external applications and web sites using only their Windows password.

The need to recall too many passwords was identified as an important IT issue for postal employees. Furthermore, helpdesk costs for forgotten passwords were costing the USPS millions of dollars per year.

The Postal Service chose v-GO SSO to address its employees’ password challenges and to reduce its helpdesk costs. It was imperative that the solution could quickly enable all known Windows, Mainframe, Web and Java applications and, most importantly, it had to work “out-of-the-box” with new applications deployments going forward, or be enabled by a local administrator in a matter of minutes.

“Passlogix was instrumental in helping the Postal Service solve its most critical end user problem —forgotten passwords — and solve it quickly,” said Bob Otto, U.S. Postal Service vice president and chief technology officer. “The fact that we could leverage our current infrastructure and deploy v-GO SSO without modifying applications or completing any integration was especially important to us.”

v-GO SSO delivers secure access for all Windows, Web, Telnet, homegrown and host-based applications without requiring application rewrites, scripting or agents. By combining patented client side intelligence with a simple, graphical administrative console and superior directory integration, v-GO SSO can be quickly implemented and easily administered to deliver uniform primary authentication across all of an enterprise’s applications, without requiring the customer to do any modification or integration.

“While planning our SSO deployment, we knew that we did not have the time or money to rewrite all our business applications in order to get any immediate benefit from a single sign-on solution. There was also no way we could write scripts or connectors for them. At last count, there are over 1,000 internal applications and web sites, and thousands more external to the Postal Service that our users accessed on a regular basis, in order to do their jobs. We are pleased that we could rely on v-GO SSO to support them without any assistance or integration,” said Wayne Grimes, Postal Service SSO project manager.

Due to its scalability and its intelligence based approach, v-GO SSO was uniquely suited to address all of the Postal Service’s challenging requirements while minimizing cost of deployment, long term maintenance and total cost of ownership

“It is enormously gratifying to provide an enterprise single sign-on solution of this scale to an agency like the United States Postal Service. Their IT needs and expectations were wide-ranging, but due to v-GO SSO’s unique capabilities we were able to deploy across their entire enterprise in an unusually quick amount of time, with a relatively small effort. That type of success is remarkable, and proves that Passlogix is truly delivering the return on investment that ESSO promises,” said Marc Boroditsky, president & CEO of Passlogix.
