Passlogix Earns SC Magazine ‘Look Forward' Honors For v-GO Sign-On Platform
Praised for Innovative Suite-Based Approach to Application Access
December 17, 2007 — NEW YORK, NY; Passlogix®, Inc. announced today that its flagship v-GO® Sign-On Platform™ for password management has been recognized by SC Magazine as one of the industry’s most innovative information security products. The v-GO solution suite, including the core enterprise single sign-on application, was cited in a special section in the magazine’s December edition called “A Look Forward” dedicated to information security vendors that offer strategic systems platforms rather than point solutions designed to serve a single function.
The magazine’s selection of honorees was culled from products that were evaluated in its SC Labs operation and covered in a group review or a First Look feature during the past 11 months. In Passlogix’s case, the magazine reviewed v-GO® Credential Manager™ (v-GO CM), the first product that manages disparate strong authentication devices and their associated credentials from a single console. v-GO CM can be deployed on a standalone basis or as an integrated component of the v-GO platform.
For its new “Look Forward” evaluation, SC Magazine reviewed the entire v-GO suite, including v-GO® Single Sign-On™ (v-GO SSO) and all six add-on modules.
v-GO SSO eliminates the need to deploy and manage multiple application passwords. The add-on modules extend v-GO’s single sign-on to any form of strong authentication and kiosk environments; integrate with identity management systems to automatically inject user credentials into the v-GO database for zero-touch provisioning; permit self-service reset of forgotten Windows passwords; centralize management of strong authentication devices; and allow secure password sharing for privileged accounts.
SC Magazine editors praised Passlogix for its creative approach to addressing difficult challenges such as management of shared account access. The company’s approach “is far different from thinking out of the box. It’s refusing to acknowledge that the box exists in the first place,” the editors said.
The publication also cited Passlogix’s ability to produce “user-friendly responses” to the problems of single sign-on, its development of an architecture that is “extensible, scalable and pervasive across the enterprise to a variety of SSO strategies and third-party products,” and the v-GO suite’s modularity and backward compatibility enabling easy implementation.
The product review was part of the debut of SC Magazine’s yearly Look Ahead group tests that will honor SC Magazine Innovators. This year’s installment covers access control, analysis and testing, perimeter defense, data protection and security infrastructure tools. For this test, SC Magazine looked to help readers answer the question, ‘If we are going to buy security tools in the next 12 to 18 months, what should we be looking at?’ Products were evaluated by criteria including shelf life, innovation, usefulness and comprehensiveness.
“We launched our platform strategy nearly three years ago to address the range of sign-on challenges that enterprises face as they extend single sign-on into their infrastructure. The goal was to interface with the widest possible variety of digital identity repositories, authenticators, user provisioning systems and computing environments,” said Stephane Fymat, Passlogix vice president of strategy and product management. “This recognition from SC Magazine validates our platform approach and showcases the important role that our v-GO suite can play in the enterprise network infrastructure.”
v-GO is used in enterprises around the world with 6 million licenses sold. Enterprises frequently deploy v-GO before implementing identity management or two-factor authentication because v-GO can go live quickly and seamlessly integrate with all major identity management systems as well as any combination of smart cards, badges, proximity devices, tokens or biometrics. v-GO can be deployed on existing servers without adding dedicated or proprietary hardware, and it scales to support organizations of any size.
