Passlogix Releases v-GO Sign-On Platform 6.0
#1 Enterprise Sign-on Platform Expands Language, Biometric, Proximity Card Support & More
June 12, 2006 — New York, NY; Passlogix®, Inc., today announced an upgrade to its market-leading v-GO® Sign-on Platform™ that further reduces the costs, complexity and security risks of managing passwords in an enterprise environment. Available immediately, the new Version 6.0 adds support for eight languages, the ability to authenticate users based on biometric or proximity devices, out-of-the-box integration with leading identity management systems, and other features that simplify both administration and the end-user experience.
“The enhancements in v-GO Version 6.0 extend the platform’s ability to deliver the benefits of single sign-on technology efficiently, securely, and with the broadest possible support for the disparate security procedures of different enterprises,” said Stephane Fymat, Passlogix vice president of product management and sales operations. “v-GO is already the most widely adopted solution of its kind with more than 2.4 million licenses around the globe, and each of these upgrades equips organizations with new tools to bring the proliferation of enterprise passwords under control.”
The Passlogix v-GO Sign-On Platform is built around v-GO Single Sign-On®, the market’s premier enterprise single sign-on offering, with five add-on products enabling seamless integration of functions such as strong authentication and identity provisioning support. The suite eliminates the need for users to remember multiple passwords by automatically generating the credentials required to access individual applications, databases and accounts after the user has logged in with a single Windows password.
“Single sign-on is very important in a healthcare environment, and the Passlogix v-GO Sign-On Patform will be instrumental in enabling us to reap the security, efficiency and usability benefits within our clinical environment,” said Thomas Cleveland, information technology security analyst for University of North Carolina Health Care System. “We are currently in the process of testing various forms of strong authentication and plan to use v-GO’s capabilities to extend single sign-on to whatever strong authentication device or devices we select, and we expect that the newest upgrades will provide additional benefits moving forward.”
New features in Version 6.0 include:
Multi-language support, with French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Chinese editions. These localized versions will enable global enterprises to standardize on Passlogix technology for all their sign-on and authentication initiatives.
Firefox browser support, allowing end users to login to websites through their Firefox browser.
Native support for biometric and proximity card-based strong authentication, expanding the support previously provided for the industry’s leading smart ID badges, tokens and biometric devices. This upgrade to the v-GO Authentication Manager™ provides native integration with Digital Persona Pro fingerprint authentication solutions, designed for corporate environments, and Ensure Technologies’ XyLoc proximity-based authorization badges, used primarily in healthcare facilities.
Out-of-the-box integration with BMC, IBM, Oracle and Sun identity management systems, making v-GO the only single sign-on platform that simultaneously supports BMC Control-SA, IBM Tivoli Identity Manager, Oracle Identity Manager and Sun Identity Manager without the need for integration via APIs. This simplifies the deployment of identity management solutions while also enabling administrators to securely create, modify and delete provisioned application credentials within an end users’ v-GO SSO credential store, eliminating user involvement in the credential provisioning process.
Enrollment-free self-service Windows password reset, an exclusive feature that further reduces help desk calls related to forgotten Windows passwords. This upgrade to the v-GO Self Service Password Reset™ solution eliminates the need for end users to enroll before they can reset their passwords – the number one hindrance to user adoption. Instead, end users are validated against existing enterprise data sources such as HR and identity management systems.
Web-based lookup of application passwords from public kiosks and other computers not equipped with v-GO client software, making it possible to access email and other programs from any PC even though v-GO is not installed. This new Web Viewer can be configured to disable access to sensitive applications such as accounting or HR, restrict access only to certain users or user groups, and/or function only inside the network such as on a branch office PC that does not recognize the user. It also serves as a redundant path for disaster recovery in the unlikely event of significant system outage.
Other new features include easier sign-on to applications requiring complicated multi-form/multi-step authentication, enhanced user lockout recovery, improved support for SAP and Linux emulators, enhanced disaster recovery, and a variety of other upgrades to simplify deployment and management.
“We are experiencing strong demand from healthcare customers to deploy our patented active proximity solution with enterprise single sign-on for easy and secure kiosk user authentication,” explains David Shook, senior vice president of sales at Ensure Technologies. “The integration between the XyLoc active proximity and v-GO SM delivers an easy to deploy solution that addresses this requirement.”
“We are happy to see the integration of Passlogix’s v-GO Authentication Manager with DigitalPersona Pro,” explains Vance Bjorn, CTO of DigitalPersona. “We believe that this partnership, leading to a more comprehensive product offering, will increase the enterprise market adoption of dedicated authentication solutions.”
Separately today, Passlogix announced v-GO Credential Manager™, the sixth product in the v-GO suite. v-GO CM is the market’s first open lifecycle management system for strong authentication devices. It can be used to issue, manage and revoke smart cards, tokens, biometrics and proximity cards governing any point of physical or logical entry, from garage gate and front door to VPN, network and application sign-on.
