Auditing Account Usage

Who has Access to What

Enterprises often have many questions about user access.  Who do all the application accounts actually belong to?  How often do they use them?  Do they still need them?  No single system has all the data.  Application logs may only have cryptic user IDs that don’t uniquely identify the actual users.  They also only typically keep the last login date rather than a login history.   Piecing together the data to answer these questions is therefore slow, costly and incomplete.

Solution

v-GO Single Sign-On inherently knows whose user IDs belong to whom and how often they use them, since is performs the logons on behalf of the users.  v-GO’s Reporting Service logs all usage in a centralized database, and automatically generates and distributes reports to the appropriate recipients.  It automates compliance reporting on application access, drastically reduces efforts for account reconciliation and it reduces software maintenance fees by identifying the low use or dead accounts that can be eliminated.
